KELLY BOSTON OBIT PIC

Kelly Jack Boston of Bardwell, Texas, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 in Fairplay, Colorado at the age of 47.

Kelly was born August 8, 1968 in Sherman, Texas to Jack and Kathy (Jaresh) Boston. He graduated from S&S Consolidated High School in 1986 and from Tarleton State University in 1992. On December 26, 1998, he married an “Ennis girl”, Penny Gorman Boston in Telico, Texas.  At that point, Kelly officially put down roots in Ennis, and began his ministry of developing relationships.

Kelly was employed as the horticulture teacher with Ennis ISD for 24 years; in addition, he was an assistant baseball coach for a short period of time. He was also responsible for initiating the at-risk mentoring program for Ennis ISD. He considered his “job” his primary mission field for the God he served and loved, and he lived every day with purpose and compassion for others. Kelly was giddy with excitement about the upcoming school year, because he had many plans and dreams to further the mentoring program in order to reach more students, who would benefit from having someone in their corner.

Kelly also owned and operated Boston’s Horticultural Services, serving over one hundred local citizens who wished to maintain the perfect “Kelly Boston yard”.

Kelly loved his many circles of friends, his Creekside church family in Midlothian, Texas, and he was actively involved with all extracurricular activities associated with Ennis ISD – because that’s where “his kids” were. He enjoyed any kind of fishing, quail and dove hunting, and staying fit with his Camp Gladiator family.

When Kelly couldn’t be found at home, at an Ennis sporting event or at the greenhouse, it was likely that he was on the dam at Lake Bardwell in “The KARP,” trying to catch a 5-pound bass. He often chose to fish alone, because that was his “quiet time” with his Father.

When he mowed the family lawn (three times each week), he listened to audio books about leadership and servant hood or his favorite preacher at the time. He was constantly seeking ways to deepen his relationship with God, so he could build stronger connections with others.

He IS the best father and husband his family could have ever hoped for, and they will miss him greatly; but they recognize that even in his death, he is impacting others and potentially making the world a better place – and that brings them great comfort.

Kelly is survived by his wife Penny (Gorman) Boston and their two daughters Addison and Rylee Boston of Bardwell, Texas; parents, Jack and Kathy Boston of Sadler, Texas; sister Jana Howard and her husband Michael of Sadler, Texas; sister Mandy Holderfield and her husband Sean of Pottsboro, Texas; father and mother-in-law Kenneth and Diane Gorman of Bardwell, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Jamie and Andy Olson of Flower Mound, Texas; nieces and nephews Colby, Jayce, Marlee and Brenna Howard, Shelby, Chloe and Ty Holderfield, Kenna and Ryatt Olson.

He is preceded in death by his special uncle Marvin Jaresh of Pottsboro, Texas; his paternal grandparents Lloyd and Jewel (Cason) Boston of Whitesboro, Texas; and his maternal grandparents James and Bessie (Faber) Jaresh of Dorchester, Texas.  Kelly always felt that his life had come full circle when he moved to Ennis, which is the birthplace of both of his maternal grandparents and the resting place of his great-great grandparents.

A celebration of Kelly Boston’s life is being hosted by Ennis ISD at 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 8 (Kelly’s birthday) at Ennis High School. In lieu of flowers, a tax-deductible donation may be made to the “EHS Student Support Closet” at PO Box 1420, Ennis TX 75120 or the “Creekside Church ‘ReachOut’ Ministry” at 5401 East Hwy 287 Midlothian, Texas 76065.  Those who wish to send condolences or share memories with the family may mail them to 322 Cane Road, Ennis TX 75119 or send an email to lovelikeboston@gmail.com
